Volassom (CaHA) is a calcium hydroxylapatite injectable from CGBio in South Korea. It is about 30% CaHA microspheres in a 70% sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) gel. Each box holds two 0.8 mL pre-filled syringes, 1.6 mL in total. It adds volume at once and then supports new collagen.
It is used for wrinkles and folds, facial contour and lost facial volume. Ask us about trade pricing if you order in volume.
What is Volassom made of?
Volassom has two parts. About 30% is calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, a mineral also found in bone. About 70% is a CMC gel that carries the microspheres and spreads them evenly. There is no anaesthetic in the syringe as supplied.
How does Volassom work?
Volassom works in two stages. First, the gel carrier gives volume you can see on the day. Then the gel is absorbed, and the CaHA microspheres stay in place as a scaffold that supports the skin's own collagen. Supplier information describes the collagen response building over about 4 to 8 weeks.
Volassom vs an HA filler — which should you use?
Use Volassom when you want structure plus collagen support, and an HA filler when you want a gel that can be dissolved.
| Volassom (CaHA) | HA dermal filler | GANA CH (hybrid) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Material | 30% CaHA in 70% CMC gel | Cross-linked hyaluronic acid | 95% HA + 5% CaHA |
| Collagen support | Yes | Not the main action | Yes |
| Hyaluronidase | No effect | Dissolves the gel | Dissolves the HA part |
| Lips | Not used | Yes, with a soft gel | Not used |
What areas does Volassom treat?
Volassom is used where contour and support are the goal. Listed areas include the jawline and chin, cheeks and temples, nasolabial folds, the forehead and facial contour. Supplier information also describes diluted use for skin quality on the neck and hands. Follow the instructions for use for dilution and technique.
How long does Volassom last?
Supplier information cites results of about 6 to 12 months, and longer in some patients. The real figure depends on the area, the volume and each patient's collagen response.
How should Volassom be stored?
Store at room temperature, between 1 and 30 °C, away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Check the expiry date on the box.
