Hyalase Inj. (Hyaluronidase)

Hyalase Inj. (Hyaluronidase) is a sterile, freeze-dried hyaluronidase powder for injection. Each ampoule holds 1,500 international units (IU), and each box holds 10 ampoules. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. In aesthetic clinics it is kept on hand to dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers.

What is Hyalase made of?

Each ampoule contains 1,500 IU of hyaluronidase as a white freeze-dried powder. There is no liquid in the ampoule. You dissolve the powder just before use.

How does hyaluronidase work?

Hyaluronidase splits the long hyaluronic acid chains into small fragments that the body clears. This also makes tissue more permeable for a short time, so injected fluids spread and absorb more easily. The effect on tissue is temporary.

What is Hyalase used for?

Its labelled uses are to help injected fluids, local anaesthetics and subcutaneous infusions spread, and to help the body reabsorb excess fluid or blood in tissue. In aesthetic practice, clinicians also use hyaluronidase to dissolve HA filler that is misplaced, overfilled or lumpy, and in the emergency management of filler-related vascular occlusion. The clinician decides the use and dose.

How do you reconstitute a 1,500 IU ampoule?

Dissolve the powder in about 1 mL of water for injections, or directly in the solution it will be combined with, immediately before use. Many clinicians then dilute further with 0.9% saline to get a workable strength. The volume sets the units per 0.1 mL:

Hyalase vs Liporase — what is the difference?

Both are 1,500 IU hyaluronidase powders sold in boxes of 10. Hyalase comes in ampoules. Liporase comes in vials and is made by Daehan New Pharm in South Korea. Choose by the brand and storage conditions your clinic prefers.

How should Hyalase be stored?

Do not store above 25 °C. Keep the ampoules dry and away from light. Once reconstituted, use immediately. Check the expiry date printed on the box.

Does hyaluronidase dissolve every filler?

No. It only breaks down hyaluronic acid. It does not dissolve PCL, PLLA or calcium-based products.

Is a skin test needed?

Allergic reactions to hyaluronidase can occur. Many clinicians do a patch test before non-urgent use; the clinician decides.

Can it be given into a vein?

No. Hyalase is not for intravenous use.
