Wellscaine Plus 450g is a Korean topical anaesthetic cream that combines lidocaine 2.5% and prilocaine 2.5% in a eutectic mixture. It is made by GuJu Pharma Co., Ltd. and comes in a 450 g jar. How long does Wellscaine Plus take to work?
Follow the contact time in the instructions for use. As a guide, eutectic lidocaine and prilocaine creams are usually left on for 30–60 minutes under an occlusive wrap before procedures on intact skin. That is longer than a 10.56% lidocaine cream needs, so plan it into the appointment.
How do you apply and remove Wellscaine Plus?
- Cleanse the area and pat it dry.
- Apply a thick layer to intact skin. Do not rub it in.
- Cover the area with cling film or an occlusive dressing.
- When the time is up, remove the cover and wipe off all the cream.
- Disinfect the skin before you start the procedure.
Is Wellscaine Plus safe on large areas?
Use it with care on large areas. Lidocaine passes through the skin into the blood. A strong cream spread over a wide area, left on too long or wrapped tightly can raise blood levels. Treat one area at a time, keep to the contact time and never apply it to broken or inflamed skin. Prilocaine can cause methaemoglobinaemia in high doses, so keep to small areas in sensitive patients. Stop and remove the cream if the patient reports dizziness, tingling around the mouth or ringing in the ears.
