What is in Muchcaine Cream?

- Cream base — a soft white to pale yellow cream that spreads easily and wipes off cleanly.
Lidocaine is the only anaesthetic in the formula. There is no prilocaine or tetracaine.
How long does Muchcaine take to work?
Numbing usually starts in about 15 minutes. Most clinics leave it on for 15–30 minutes before lasers and injections, and longer — up to 60 minutes — before tattooing. Skin thickness and the patient's sensitivity change the timing, so test the area before you begin.
How do you apply and remove Muchcaine Cream?
- Cleanse the area and pat it dry.
- Apply a thick, even layer to intact skin. Do not rub it in.
- For small areas, cover with cling film to speed up numbing.
- When the time is up, remove the film and wipe off all the cream with gauze.
- Disinfect the skin fully before you start the procedure.
Is Muchcaine Cream safe on large areas?
Use it with care on large areas. Lidocaine passes through the skin into the blood. A strong cream spread over a wide area, left on too long or wrapped tightly can raise blood levels. Treat one area at a time, keep to the contact time and never apply it to broken or inflamed skin. Stop and remove the cream if the patient reports dizziness, tingling around the mouth or ringing in the ears.
